UPSC Mains Exam Strategy

Shubham’s IAS -

Strategy for Mains exam:

After qualifying preliminary exam, candidate is given the opportunity to take the mains exam. The mains exam is subjective in nature. The knowledge of the candidate and the way knowledge is presented determine the marks obtained of the candidate.

Marks obtained by candidate determine the opportunity to face the interview and the final rank of the candidate. Thus, it is important that special strategy is devised to score high in mains. We have devised the 8-fold strategy to ensure high score by our students in the mains exam.

Shubham’s IAS - The Best PCS Coaching in Chandigarh strategy for mains:

1.Complete coverage of syllabus: With the changing Local as well as global scenario, the Indian and the world dynamics have changed, which has also resulted in the change of syllabus. We cover full syllabus with emphasis on all dynamic concepts, thereby leaving no scope for any unattempted or wrongly attempted question.

2.Regular Tests: The mains preparation is incomplete until candidate appears in mock test and competes with other deserving candidates. The tests that we administer are based on civil services exam conducted by the Union Public Service Commission. Regular tests result into following benefits for the candidates:

-->Identify weak areas of the candidates so that we can work on those areas.
-->Make strong areas more stronger.
-->Remove fears, doubts and instill confidence among the candidates.

3.Review of past year questions: Though its very rare that old questions are repeated but it is an admitted fact that same pattern is followed. During our course curriculum we cover past 10- year questions. Familiarity with past 10- year questions guides the preparation of the candidates and makes the candidates aware about what the civil services exam expect out of the candidates.

4.Answer writing sessions: Score in mains is dependent upon knowledge of the subject and presentation of the knowledge. Thus, answer writing is of utmost importance. In our answer writing sessions we give various questions to the candidates and ask the candidate to attempt those questions on the spot.
